Caroline's birthday gifts to mommy!

On Monday of this week, I turned the ripe old age of 32... woohoo ;) Also on Monday little Car was due for her 2nd flu shot... And, to much of my surprise, she did great! Barely even shed a tear... And, that was her first birthday gift to mommy.

The very next morning, she decided to... wait for it... CRAWL!!! Happy birthday to mommy #2! Everyone said she was on the verge, and I just wasn't sure because she seems so content with her current arrangement of leaning forward on to her belly, reaching as far as she could, grabbing the toy she desired, and then somehow making her way back to sitting position. It was quite impressive actually - but now my baby - the one who was slow to lift her head up and roll over is CRAWLING like a champ!

Ok ok, brag session is over with :)

Here's the video that her aunt kim captured! So fun!!!

Time flies when you're having fun!

Where to begin?

The last few months have flown by... Not going to lie, life as a working mom is not a cake walk. Especially when your baby will not sleep in her own bed.

But on to more fun topics! Since I've last posted, we've reached the following milestones:

We are sitting up
We can get down on all fours and scoot backwards
We can do 360's on our tummy
We can go from tummy to a sitting position again (that's how much we hate our tummy!)
We laugh only when things are really, really funny
We cry and pout when we don't get our way
We are really good with our little hands... They can pinch, grab, pick up and bang things together
We are eating SOLID FOODS! We love bananas, apple sauce, avocado, sweet potato, butternut squash and sometimes oatmeal.
We can go SEVEN whole hours between feedings (not that she ever does, but even still, she CAN if we can ever get her to sleep that long!)
And finally (I think)... we are starting to pull up!

Whew!!!

On the MCAD front, we had our first cold in early December. She had a 101 temp with a suppressed appetite, however, I was able to sustain her by nursing because she was too stuffy to want to take the bottle for about 48 hours. It was at that point that I decided I would continue to nurse to 12 months. And only a couple of weeks later, we had our second cold - this time with no fever..but same concern with taking the bottle.

She met with our Dr. at Children's in December and everything looks great. I feel very good about the team at Children's. While I'm not prepared in the least for her first ER visit, I'm at least confident that we have a team that will protect her from getting really sick.

On the "my daughter has a big head" front - we finally met with a cranio/facial specialist. He had no concerns with the structural development of her skull and said that from his perspective, a helmet was not needed. However, he did say that she had an "abnormally large" head - and would continue to monitor the size at the pedi's office... thanks buddy... did you take a look at her mom and dad? I'm at my breaking point on this head stuff. I feel wholly responsible too. If you take a look at my baby pics, it's very clear that she inherited my head shape/size. I'm starting to get a complex about it... so if you see Car sporting lots of cute hats, you know why.

That's enough for now. I've made it one of my resolutions to keep posting on a regular basis.

xoxo
